Question 95 E320 wagon Noisey tandem pump

Replaced the 1st pump with a good used one, but the noise persists. The steering seems unaffected, it works fine. The noise doesnt change when turning. The self leveling works as normal. By the way, contrary to some posted info that said the Vickers and ZF pumps are interchangeable that is incorrect as two of the fittings are of a different size.

Maybe the used pump you bought is also nearing end of its life, or there is still a problem in the system somewhere. Knew that buying new is expensive, but can try re-manufactured ones which guarantee a perfect fit.

solved

It turns out that I was misled by a bearing noise in the belt tensioner.

Lucky that you didn't spend more on replacing the wrong part.
