New Air Conditioner compressor - And what else?
1993 300e 2.8 Air Conditioner compressor is making noise. AC hasn't worked for 2 years. Need to replace it, what other parts should I consider purchasing?
Compressor and Clutch - http://www.pelicanparts.com/More_Inf...-230-05-11-M11
Dryer - http://www.pelicanparts.com/More_Inf...830-02-83-M326
Expansion Valve - 140-830-04-84-M23
I'll have a local shop vacuum the unit and add Freon.
Thanks for your comments. Rick

Out Of Control!!
Well it would be nice to learn what you tested or who said what to determine why the AC system is not cooling or did you get an early tax refund!!

I had the front end aligned yesterday, also asked them to look at the AC. It hadn't worked for a couple years, he added a can of Freon and the compressor kicked on making all kinds of banging noise.

Correct, I don't know whats wrong with the AC. Being the car is 24 years old replacing everything wouldnt be a bad idea. The car has never had good AC. Best AC was on my 1968 Ford Galaxy, it was cold like a meat locker!

Noise is not good, but turn the compressor by hand with engine off.
The front of the clutch is the part bolted to the compressor shaft, so by turning it on you can feel is there is some mechanical resistance inside compressor.
Also check the clutch gap and make sure everything is working the way it suppose to.
I am just working on father's car that at 29 years and 300k miles still can freeze the elbows... when blower kicks in -what is what I am working on.
