Hi everyone I'm new to this but bear with me.
Has anyone out there ever done an engine conversion on Mercedes e320 w124 coupe with the e500 or 500e engine as I was hoping to attempt whether possible but will need to locate an engine first.

Possible....sure, you'll basically end up with something similar to an AMG Hammer.....now whether you can find that engine and or want to go through the ridiculous amount of work and expense is a whole other story. Youre best bet would probably be to get the engine out of an R129 since they are plentiful and not as rare or expensive as the E500.

Would the C36 engine be a more realistic alternative? It shares the same M104 lay-out as the E320, and is by and large a bolt-on installation. The E500 is by comparison a more complicated V8 machine. Incidentally, C36 engines are easier to source (one has just become available in this forum).
