If I replace a deployed airbag, do I need to replace the sensor first?

If I replace a deployed airbag, do I need to replace the sensor first?

So my flex coupling went, causing the airbag to deploy and seatbelts to lock in-place. Needles to say, my SRS light is on. If I replace the airbag and seatbelt retractors, do I need to reset the SRS sensor first? If I don't will it fire off again as soon as I turn the key? And I've been told that if the airbag deployed like that, the accelerometer in the sensor cannot be reset but has to be replaced. Is all that correct? What is the right sequence to replace and reset everything so it all works and my SRS light is reset?
