KUZ Well my engine is a m103 yours could be a M104 ,. My temp is 88 .But if she is going up to 100 i would say to get it sorted it wont take long to damage it .Could you have a air lock .I had problems for some time getting the air out .I take rhe sensor out of the head and top up from there .Let it run with the sensor just screwed in so it can vent all the air out . Then let it stand over night . But if its a 104 the sensor might not be in the same place as mine Good luck .

The description of overheating might be a bit flimsy for an accurate diagnosis. What engine and model is your W124, and how did the car behave before you decided to replace the head gasket, and what makes you believe that the problem is not yet cured? Your handbook would have stated the normal temperature for your model (but a rule of thumb is it must sit steadily between 82 to 90 (C), and it rarely goes beyond 95 unless driving in extreme conditions (like dead slow traffic on a hot day, climbing a hill for a long time, etc). An air (pressure) leak (like a loose or worn pressurized water cap, a broken tube in the reserve reservoir or a puncture in the radiator, a bad thermostat, a toasted fan clutch or any temperature sensor/switch might drive the temperature up. If these faults were not arrested and corrected first, replacing the head gasket would not cure your problem completely.

Don't want to hijack, but my 2006 320 CDI's thermostat does not seem to be working. Car, which is new to me, otherwise is running perfectly. I am not treating this as an urgent problem. Am I wrong?

Check this out:
http://www.pelicanparts.com/techarti...eplacement.htm
The previous owner of my Alfa 164 removed the thermostat just to help with heat dissipation. This is fine during most time of the year, but during winter when external temperature is below 10 degree Celsius, it takes some 25 minutes or 15 km of highway cruising for the engine to reach operational temperature. Imagine the friction and effect on the engine when the engine is forced to work below normal temperature.
Whatever is your car model, thermostat is a cheap fix so get it sorted quickly.
