Fuel pump issue

I know there are a lot of threads on this, but I was wondering if anyone had any suggestions before I go replacing yet another part that doesn't need to be replaced. I started with no oil pressure and and oil light lit on the dash, I eventually got the pressure back to normal but oil light still lit. The wire casing to the oil sending unit was cracking really bad, so I took some 18 wire cut back the sensor and spliced in new wire.. still lit.. so I replaced my 5w-30 oil to the recommended 0w-40.... still lit... then I replaced the sending unit... still lit... so before my question is, before I replace the pump, is there anything I'm missing?? Now just a side note when I open the oil cap, there is clearly oil getting to the engine, I would imagine if the oil pump failed I'd get no oil to the engine??

Thanks in advance
