Help me determine correct color

I want to buy a rattle can of matching paint to paint the front license plate holder, which I just picked up from the local MB dealer.

When at the dealership the VIN details showed the color of my car to be Onyx gray. The build sheet I obtained says paint code 721 U, onyx gray.

I found a manufacturer (TouchUpDirect.com) who sells aerosol paint but their paint code 721 is referenced as Moonstone Gray Metallic, which seems to be much lighter than my paint color.

I am puzzled now as to the color code . My car is a 1995 E320.

Here my question. Is Onxy Gray also called Moonstone Gray?

Maybe I need to find a different source for a can of aerosol paint. Any suggestions as to a source for paint?

You will be very lucky to find a spray paintin rattle can to match your car .Even more so if its a metalic paint . I had to send a part of ny car bodywork as a sample .Easy in my case as i had just fitted a new wing ,so i cut out a part of the old wing and posted it off to the paint company . End finish is out of this world, and spot on.. Wishing you good luck .. Your paint is 721 is right - onnx grey I find nothing for Moonstone Grey in my colour codes for mb.

How about you just take it to a paint shop and have them match it? Can't be all that expensive.

I have seen a couple of cases where the same color has two names, my 04 E500 is a perfect example. The EPC paint code is 359 I believe, Tanzanite blue, but the window sticker from the factory clearly says Capri Blue. I had the same questions and doubted the Capri Blue designation until I received the window sticker from the PO. So I would believe the EPC code, unless the car was repainted at some time, the colors should be the same or very close.

Good paint shops can match anything, the plate holder has very little showing to begin with.. good luck

In fact I've been told this by a paint shop. I gave them my colour code and they said there were three variants of it. Best way is to get the paint shop to match it from scratch
