Belt squeak? Ohlord?

My 210 makes a belt squeak sound when its cold (engine, not air temp). Do you think this is a worn belt characteristic or a pully bearing going bad? Do pulleys squeak when they are cold then stop squeaking after being run for a few mins. The squeak goes away in about 2 mins and doesn't come back until the car sits for several hours. I have been unable to pinpoint where the sound is coming from. I am having the oil changed and I'll ask the mech to figure it out however, I would like to know the answer to this beforehand.

Spray some belt dressing on the belt ribs. If the noise disappears, let it go if the belt isn't cracking.

If it doesn't go away, take the belt off and spin all of the pulleys by hand. Any roughness is bad. Replace the tensioner, if over 100k miles. Put a new belt on.

Simple stuff that's the same on every car.

Rub chalk on the belt and see if the squeak goes away if it does good if it doesnt then it could be pulleys-bearings.

I had the same issue on the C280, I explained the dealer ship about the noise so they replaced the tensioner and belt. When I got the car back the noise was gone.

WAS MOST LIKELY THE BELT,and they hit you up for the tensioner .
A. if you can't do the repair yourself, try to figure out what is wrong by doing some simple diagnostics noted above.
B.Never explain anything to the dealer
C.you do that by never going to the dealer.
D. not the diy type find a good indie shop
E. how much did they hit you up for a belt and tensioner? $650-$750
for 130bucks worth of parts.
