It's all in the wheel manufacturer and the proper offset. I have ZERO rub in the rear even with three adults in the back. The top of the tire completely dissapears when that happens. DPE Engineering makes the wheels for your specific car. I could probably get a 10.5 in wheel back there if I wanted. I will try to take a pic from the rear tomorrow. It looks bad ***.
As far as riding like a donkey cart on gravel it's no such thing for my ride. I do have the H&R race/sport cup kit on it though on #1 pads. The reason I did that is because ALL springs settle just a bit. If I encounter any rub in the front I'll just go up a couple of pads in the front.
Most guys who are afraid to go 19's don't want to spend the money. I agree to do it the right way you have to spend some extra dough though. The correct suspension selection is a must but I will tell you my car rides smoother and nicer than most Eibach/koni, stock shock/aftermarket spring combo because my shocks and springs were made to work with each other. Most people would be blown away if they had a chance to ride in my w210.
Cheers.

Here's my ride. A little stiff because of the 19's but over all pretty good.
#1 pads front and #2 pads rear.
H&R sport springs. Need to get after market shocks (next project)
235X35X19 front & 265X30X19 rear. NO rubbing.
bought the rims used for $700 3 years ago.
replaced front & rear bumbers to SPORT bumper.
added side skirt.

Over the last 15 years I've had 13", 14", 15", 16", 17", 18", and 19" on VWs, BMW, Audi, and Benz with stock, sport, and coil-over suspensions. And I'm here to tell ya, dude, if you live in a city with crappy roads (DC, NY, Baltimore, etc...) you will learn your lesson quick with 19s. They are pretty much all show and little go anyway.
I ride 18" in DC and it's nice most of the time...then...BAM!
If your city has nice roads, then go for it. If not, go 18"...tops.

i believe you can go 19"s if you stick with a good wheel company. on my old bmw, i had 18" breyton wheels which did get bent slightly. i then went to 19" bbs wheels, and they NEVER bent. and this is driving thru manhattan over a dozen times.

Exactly.
If you live in an area with ****ty roads then you are going to run into problems with any wheel. More problems with a cast replica than a forged wheel. I have unexpecticaly driven over a few good sized pot holes because you can't avoid all of them and I drive pretty carefully and my forged 3 piece wheels have held up perfectly so I guess you get what you pay for.
I think the white car pic earlier in this thread Richard 320 looks really good for an 18" wheel car. To the untrained eye they look really close to 19's if you do the suspension.

I went from 16" to 17" and noticed a HUGE difference in the feel of the car - it used to be really smooth and you hardly felt a thing while driving on the freeway. Now, I do feel a lot of the road - but I am used to it now. There's no way I would go to 18" - I wouldn't want to feel the road anymore than I do now.

I'm not an expert but I guess you could paint the bottom part to match the body color.

Any more pics guys? I'm really trying to justify spending any money at all on this car. I have that, "I'd rather put the money into my business" frame of mind right now.
Oh yeah, I asked this earlier; has anyone ever thought of facelifting their pre facelift 210? Wonder what the cost of something like that would be. Where are you technical guys that know about this stuff? Help us out!
