If you're thinking about a Transmission fluid change...

Hey all- I just had the 722.6 fluid changed at a good indy here in San Diego (South Bay Autohaus), and it was really worth it. At 127K and very smooth running, I wasn't too sure, because the fluid looked pretty clean, just a bit grey. Anyway, after the change and filter, it shifts night and day smoother, and has a much more managable 1-2 lag when its cold. Awesome. If you're thinking about it, JUST DO IT!

I was hesitant at first also...confused from reading the pros and cons..

I recently did it at an Indy shop @ 75k miles.
The old fluid was dark for sure...
I can't really tell if it shifts better...but I feel better that fresh juice in there.

I read here that the fluid for the 722.9 transmission is OK to use in the 722.6.
It is cheaper...is it OK to use??

do you have a 98 or 96?
your pm said 96 typo?
if 96 use dex3 atf3 or atf4
if 98 with the 7226 you can use the 722.9 fluid or the 722.6 fluid
i have the dipsticks and free magnet.
Someone posted finding the 722.9 for $11 at a dealer
autohausaz.com 722.6 is $14 and change
pm me for tips.
