Recently purchased 99 e300d confused with A.C. error code B1421. Any knowledge out their? Thank you in advance.

Yes sir, I ran the diagnostic program.
but of course was not offered the option of applying the "1421" code.
As you mentioned, there is a "1241" code, I reran A.C. program, rechecked
code numbers, and 1421 reappeared.

The diagnosis: 1231---1226---1234---"1421"---ff

recommendations:

1/ evaporator temp. sensor
2/ engine temp. sensor
3/ inside and outside temp. sensors

I did view all available codes #9 thru #43 . and nothing had a four digit value

Have you knowledge were the evap. temp. sensor is located?
I'm no way a putz, have been hobby wrenching sense junior high school
45+ years ago, first MB.

the values.Then since yours is a diesel i am not certain the sensor is located in the same place.In light of the fact it is the same platform lets assume that it is.
First erase those error codes (press both auto buttons while in error mode)and run the tests again and post the values.
The evap sensor is located under the drivers side dash knee panel.Up to the right of the steering column.When you posts the tests I will try to dig up the diy or write up an ample how to.Lots of good light is needed(head lamp)and a flexible body to contort into the space below the dash,other than that it is a simple job.

Not all that flexible any more, not like in the old VW days but have head lamp
and not afraid. will look in to it tomorrow, have sole access to this beast for the whole week, Wife is playing grandma in Tallahassee.
Went to Harbor freight (the only one in Delaware) and picked up the scanner
that was recommended. NO codes found! Good this vehicle had been not used
for nearly a year. So A.C. may be it's only initial problem.

the out of range value,like 130 degrees then it most likely when you replace it will clear that odd ball code.When i had one go it had a slew of codes and when I replaced the evap sensor,most cleared themselves and the others did not return after I cleared them with the erase function in the climate control diagnostics.

Sorry if this isn't right place.

I have a 2001 C320 that has only hot air blowing from the AC and living in Miami this may lead to my demise!!! I had a mechanic run a test and he said my malfunctioning AC is from the Evap/Temp sensor and I can change it myself. I found the part for like $50 and was wondering if anyone has a link to specific directions on how to change it.

Not sure if my car is the same as the ones here, but he did tell me it is under the steering wheel somewhere.

Nick.If you have the dual digital display for the a/c try to run

and if yours has the onboard diagnostics it may work.
post the values 1-8 and the errors.
evap sensor will show as a very high default number like 130f
it is located under the dash above the gas pedal and is not a hard diy just a small space.PM me for details and I can find some links or talk you through it.
