seat upgrade...

I hadn't driven my 97 420 for about week, in the meantime I drove my wife's 2002 toyota highlander. After getting back in the benz tonight it hit me just how uncomfortable my benz seats are.

Has anyone tried upgrading their seats to more comfortable seats?
If so, did you use benz seats, or retrofit another brand...?

thanks,

Al

junkyard seats, or stock seat repadding...

-Put another way, has anyone tried obtaining seats from a junkyard and retrofitting them into a E class benz?

-How about having the stock seats refitted with foam to make them more comfortable.

-I think the problem is that these seats are built for large late 50 year old Americans, I only meet the american criteria...

thanks,

If you don't mind giving up all the power functions, you can bolt-in some racing seats to really hold you in.

What do you find uncomfortable? Are they too hard? Not enough support?

As far as upgrading, I think your best option is to find some E55 seats from a later W210.

foam..

Could be the foam, which is probably worn out, and the seats are clearly made for someone bigger than me. I'd like to get the sides filled in quite a bit, as I am swimming around in these seats as they are now...

what is undetermined, natch, is why and where you think the cause of the
deficiency lies and the cause. then, you can try to resolve. when it comes
to ergonomics, each person's preference may vary just enough so that....
over the keyboard, it may be more challenging to fix than it appears.

i must have fallen off the motorycle enough times that my back required
just the right about of babying when it comes to seats.

one of the best car seats I've ever had the pleasure of having my tush
babied was in a 211 E55. man o man, what a treat. unfortunately, it
would cost 1-2 grand plus to get it custom fitted into your model.

I would recommend that you get into a 210 E55 with multicontour seats
to see if that pampers to you enough. they would bolt right in, and if
they are an exact match in terms of seat features (to what you have
now), it may end up being PnP. if not, then minor SDS help may be
needed as well as console parts.

of course, the challenge will be to locate leather/color match to your
interior...as well as availability. good luck.

209/W210 Estate /W211 modded by MBENZNL
I Installed AMG E55 front seats into my W210 Wagon

I First added heat via pads/harness and switch row
Had to gut the stock seats to add the heat pads/harness

Then I Found a set of AMG E55 front seats with HEAT/Multicontour and Ventilated options...It Required another wire harness and another switch row and version code the PSE for the Multicontour option to work..

It CAN Be done! and the seats really do feel better

2001 E430, Obsidian Black w. Ash/Orion Grey, 195,000 mi.
Is it possible to swap the driver's and passenger's side seats?

My driver's seat cushion is harder than the passenger's since it's gotten so much more use.

Thanks,
Fred
