w210 headlight question between 96-98 and 99-2002

anybody know if the 99-02 aftermarket headlight will fit my 98 e320? I know the bumpers, fenders are different between the years, but wouldnt the headlights be the same? Any info would be great!

They will not fit.. The complete front is different..

Why not just buy headlights for the pre-facelift?

what do you mean by a pre-facelift? haha sorry im new into the eclass scene (coming from the w202). I want to get new projector headlights, but i just like the ones offered in 99-02 so much better than the ones for 96-98... anyone know where to find a better selection for headlights besides ebay?

it will fit.....

no, it wont fit....

98-99 headlights will fit your 98 -- 00-02 will *not* fit your 98.
additionally, anyone who advertises that their headlight covers all
models 98-02 probably doesn't know their product.

facelift is the models produced after august 99 (year model 2000)

Usually there are similar models of headlights available for both 96-99 and 00-03..

Do a search for W210 DEPO on ebay and all the results are the same headlight.

I can recommend buying from this guy. http://motors.shop.ebay.com/merchant/sora48

The 96-99 DEPO headlight is not currently listed, but I'm pretty sure he has them in stock. send him a question. Reasonable pricing and genuine depo headlights. He also have depo fog lights for both models.

But beware, none of the aftermarket projector headlights produce usable low beam output.

Livin,
I would suggest you try a search on this forum for "Depo" "xenon" "projector". Also check any threads posted by Zam on here. He's an expert on lighting. You will find a wealth of knowledge.

You will get enough light, but a very shattered output. The projector is not designed for usage, at least not with HIDs. It will create a lot of glare to oncoming traffic I think...

This guy put H7 Hid kits into his depo headlights

low beam

high beam

The high beam beam design is OK, but the low beam output is crap.

Ditto, zam2000 is the man! He lives somewhere in California and you can hire him to upgrade yours to whatever is possible.

HID or “high intensity discharge” lighting systems produce up to 3x more light than traditional halogen systems. HID systems use gas (mainly xenon) to produces light. This gas reaction creates less heat and lasts up 5x longer than standard halogen lights that use a filament, which can overheat and break.
Dual Beam Kits covert both the low and high beam settings to HID xenon.
Benefits of Converting
– Superior Visibility
– Enhanced peripheral vision
– Decreased eye fatigue
– AMAZING LOOKS
Kit Includes
– 2 bulbs w/ 4 Xenon gas-charged burners
– 2 HID electrical ballasts
– Wiring harness (plug-n-play type)
– Installation materials
– Detailed Instructions

don't you ever, EVER, install kits like these in your reflector based halogen headlights. Projectors MAY be ok in some cases where the projector is designed the right way, but not in cheap projectors like the one in the depo headlights..

pre 2000 post.pre easy change headlights.Post remove bumper headlights.
Hid's in original buckets,a joke.
Hid's in depos only a little better joke ,just more modern looking.
Light output, why do you think the high beam on the xenon set up is still an H7 bulb.
Polish the lenses per the diy on benzworld.org w210 diy section ,install 4 H7 65 watt rally bulbs from www.danielsternlighting.com
and outshine them all. That is if you value light over looks.Go v.s. show
At the very least read his tech papers on hid conversions
Kelvin ratings and blue light myths.
