Flashing low fuel light?

Flashing low fuel light?
That's odd, I noticed my low fuel light was flashing on the way home from work tonight. What's really odd is that I have a half a tank of gas in it and when it is really low the light usually just stays on. I got home and turned the engine off and restarted it and it doesn't flash anymore. I checked for a malfunction message via the computer and none were reported.
I'll see if this happens again tomorrow. Anyone got any ideas as why this happened?

check to see if fuel cap is on tightly
the flashing low fuel light will occur when the cap isn't sealed up properly to the filler.
This is designed into the ODB-II emissions systems. If this goes un-attended, it will cause the "check engine" light to go on as well.
Shut engine off, remove fuel cap...
reinstall fuel cap and turn until it clicks. After the engine is re-started the light should go out shortly.

That's exactly what it was, unfortunately the "check engine" light did go on and I ended up calling the dealer. They told me that the light should turn off in a few days or I will have to take it in to reset the computer. I'm glad it wasn't any serious.

Hello, I had this happen and resetting the cap didn't work.
I took it to the dealer and they replaced a senser. It's been a month and the light started flashing yesterday. I will let you know what happens.
