Be careful about purchasing used ECU's
Good afternoon,
There are numerous horror stories about folks purchasing on line or at a junk yard the same hardware and software number ECU thinking that it will work in their car, only to find out later that the car still will not start.
Remember, that if the ECU was not virginized first or wiped clean of all data, the old VIN is still on the chip and the car will not start.
A used virgin ECU can be used and flashed with the aid of DAS Xentry to start the car. Thats why dealers can go to the parts department withdraw a new ECU and test your car. They can then return the part to stock and use it again!!
Before purchasing a used ECU call a tuner and ask him how much he charges to virginize the ECU!!
Just be careful of used ECU opportunities Most could be very expensive mistakes!!
