1996 200 E Instrument LEDS won't turn off
LEDs for the clock, odometer and outside temp no longer turn off when ignition is switched off.
Fuse powers complete instrument panel including gauges and other illumination. These all work properly when exterior lighting is turned on.
What turns on LEDs for clock, odometer & outside temp? Is it tied to ignition switch directly, through relay or is there some type of illumination control electronics that is involved. Ideally I would like to get a hint on where to start looking for this one.
Thanks,

Solution to LEDS not turning off
I figured out the root cause for the LEDs (clock, outside temp & odometer) not turning off when the ignition is switched off.
The driver's door jamb switch was broken and had been pushed back into the chasis mounting hole in the door jamb.
Replacement of this switch resolved the problem
