Interior Lights help
The interior lights in our 1999 E320 wagon do not go on when the car is unlocked with the key fob or when the doors are opened. I can turn them on manually using the bottons under the review mirror but then they don't go off automaticly when the car is locked or the engine is started like they should/used to. I have tried to reset them per the instuction manual and even disconected the battery to see if they would reset. No joy.
Is there a relay or control module I should check or replace? Any help from this fine forum would be appreciated.

Mine are not coming on either but I had some work done recently that required the doors to be open for a while so I think the tech hit the switch to turn them off. Are you sure the switch is in the correct position?

If you are talking the switches by the sun roof control,...yes I have tried every combination of on off on these.
If the doors are open more than 5 mins they are supposed to shut off automaticly.
Let me know if you figure it out. Maybe your technition could shed some light on what he did?
Thx,

Start by verifying all the fuses under the rear seat. Then if everything is ok, check if the lights on the bottom of the doors come on, when you open the doors, if they do your problem is most likely the Dome light assembly itself(it contains a control module inside) if they don't it could be the PSE(vacuum pump for the central lock), but it still does not rule out the Dome light. In any case they all communicate via CAN lines, so before you buy any parts bring it in to a dealer or a good Indi with SDS scanner(Not OBD scanner, that only checks for Engine codes) to check for any fault codes. You can try swapping out the dome light assembly if you know somebody with the same vehicle to check if that would fix the problem.
Good luck.
Good luck.
