Lug nut help
Hello Forum Members,
I have a quick question regarding lug nuts for my W210 E300. I have purchased a set of R129 SL wheels as my winter setup. These are 16" x 7.5" rims.
What type of lug nuts do I need to use with these? Are the ball seats different for an SL rim?
Any help is appreciated. Thank you,

Use a site like RAD-USA to determine the ball seat size for that model/year. Most S-Class are 14mm instead of 12mm for E-Class. There are special hybrid lug bolts with a 14mm seat and 12mm threaded shank for such an application. Also the offset matters as does the length. Too long will hit against the emergency brake pads and make quite a racket. Generally you want about 16-17mm of bolt extended out the back of the rim.

im not sure when the sl changed to 14 mm bolts,if they are 14 mm hole then it is recommended you have custom bolts with larger seats,if they are 12 mm hole just compare how much the bolt pokes through the hole, compare 210 wheel and your new ones, measure from the back, too long a bolt on the back axle and you will damage your brakes, spin the wheel when fitted and car is in the air before you drive it.

The seller got back to me and sent a photo of the rim offset. They are an ET41 rim. Looks like they should work. Now I have to figure out whether or not they are a 14mm or 12mm ball seat.

W210 Wheels
you need 12M Lug Bolts with R12 ballseats, standard stuff...
Make sure you get the right length Lug bolts, it is very important.. see my other replies in the 129 forum on how to measure correctly
good luck

Hello from Orlando,
I have searched posts and stickies and still need help. I'm having trouble with lug bolts and am hoping for assistance. I'm driving a '98 e430 (original owner) and have purchased some 17' AMG wheels. Tire kingdom put them on using my stock lugs. After driving a couple miles I'm certain that I need different lugs (tire kingdom does not know). My new wheels are: 17 x 7.5J ET 35 - HWA 202 400 03 02. Does anyone know what car these belonged to or what size lug bolts or order? Or who to ask? Thanks to all.

Yes they are monoblocks and thank you for taking your time. This morning I received this response from Phil @ OtisIncLa.com (got this company from this forum)...... as below
I believe you want the bolt in the link below but since there are so many different combinations of mercedes/amg wheel son all kinds of mercedes it is impossible for me to be 100% sure. This is something you will need to determine. Let me know if I can help.

Former Vendor of MBWorld
RacingBrake offers wheel stud conversion kits for quick and easy wheel/rotor installations. These kits include 10 each wheel studs and nuts. Nuts are available in both cone seat type and ball seat type.
Instead of taking on and off the hub bolts, RB conversion bolts bolt onto the spindle and stay on for good once torqued. Acting like a traditional wheel studded spindle.
RB Wheel Studs+Nuts 80mm for Mercedes M14x1.5 (10 pc./Axle set)

you have the wheel: why not simply drop your lug into it and check the mating
surface of the ball after applying lamp black or something similar? push down
some modeling clay or your kid's silly putty. also, measure the lug bolt hole to
see if it's sized for 14mm. (though I think it shouldn't since it's a 202) if you
can push in a 14mm bolt into the hole, it's a 12/12
be sure to check part # of all 4 rims to rule out staggered set up (AMG)

I think the answer is the same, the 202 and 210 use the same bolts. Fitting AMG wheels did not require a different bolt...so long as it was designed for the 202 it will fit the 210.
