code: C1024 CAN
I have a 2002 E320 Wagon and my ESP light has been coming on intermittently. When it malfunctions I lose the AC and the turn signals.
Checked codes with a mechanic and came up with "C1024 CAN Communication with transmission control Module."
The mechanic suggested I change the transmission module. Any suggestions on a reputable place to find this part on the internet?
Any other tips or advice regarding this issue is appreciated.

Out Of Control!!
This is another sad case of an indy not having the correct diagnostic tool to correctly diagnose the car------the CAN message just indicates that some sensor or control module is not sending a message for the system to function properly.
I seriously doubt that the transmission module is faulty, it's just not getting a signal(from where?) to fully function.
The from where is the question and to answer that you need someone with factory diagnostic software!! Not a simple problem to solve without the tools!

The impression I got was from the mechanic is exactly what you are saying. He wanted to swap the module out first and if that didn't work the car would need "further testing" to find the signal the module is missing. Seemed like a big "if" at estimated $300-400 for the part plus installation.

Out Of Control!!
Those modules are not like light bulbs where you take one out and put the next in---that causes even more problems----simply call around and ask do you have DAS Xentry diagnostic software----if they stammer, studder or ask what's that, or say we have something better----hang up!!

Hi
I too have a problem. My vehicle 2002 w203 automatic. Has a reading:-
-CAN 'signal from selector level position from EMS control module implausible.
- Intermitant
The garage says I need a new gearbox. Can anyone advise please?
I did a my own reading (using a OBD-II) and it came up with code fault
-P0705 pending transmission range sensor 'A' circuit malfunction (PRNDL input).
The car seams to get stuck in - gear (2nd?). I cannot select reverse, I have to switch engine off, go to P switch engine on then I can select reverse. Heeeeeeeelp
