Question Brake Upgrade?

Has anyone used factory Mercedes parts to preform a brake upgrade on the W210? I saw an old post on the Crossfire with C32 parts and it go me thinking about my W210. The E55 of the era is a 1 piston caliper and I do not think that the rotors are any bigger over my E430.

Can anyone help me out with this?

Agree,

E55 Rotors is bigger than E430 for only 4mm dia.,

IMO; "C30/32/C55 or CLK55/SLK55" are the best brake upgrade...

That is what I was thinking, but is there a direct bolt on out of these for the W210? Rotors and calipers.

All are bolt-on, depend of your choice...

Nice, thanks for your help. Figured that the rotors had the same hat spacing but was not sure on the calipers.

If you decide to go with any of those upgrade brakes(i mentioned), just be sure to relocate the retaining Rotor bolt,,

its not necessary if you don't want to do it, this bolt is only for secure the Rotor in the hub...

The rotor bolt is not needed, mostly just to hold it in place if the calipers are off. What is the rotor size difference between a stock 430 and C32?

Thanks again for your help.

Welcome any time..,

E430: (330x32)

E55/C43/CLK55: (334X32)

C30/C32/C55: (345x30)

Man not much of a rotor size difference. Might not be worth the trouble.

It could be,

C30/C32/C55 brakes is easy & good to go, it's got 4 pistons each caliper vs 2 piston in E430...

I hear you on the piston count. Main reason I was looking into upgrading the brakes.

C32 / CLK500 CLK550 brakes on my w210. You cant run anything smaller than a 17 with them. they bolt directly on.

I think I will have to do this. Brake pads are done so might as well. My car came with 17" (Sport package) and I am looking at 19" now. So I should be good.

Thank you all.

Getting ready to do this upgrade. I have all the parts for the front. The new 19s are making me paint the rear calipers as well. But before I do I wanted to find out if there are a bigger rear set up for the W210. Are the same C43 rear brakes any bigger than the W210 sports?

Thanks for your help.

How big are the S65 rotors? The front C43 rotors that i had gotten are 330. Don't want the rear to be bigger.

C43 front Rotor is: 334mm,, while C32 is: 345mm, and both using the same rear Rotor which is: 300mm,

W220 S65 AMG front Rotor is: 380mm & 390mm(as optional) & rear is: 348mm & 365mm(as optional), why want to go with that, not worth that big $$$...!?!,

if you want to go with bigger rear Rotor, go with SLK55/CLK55, with 330mm rear Rotors, they're direct bolt-on...

I was hoping that you would come back to this thread cm60k.

The new 19" wheels are making me clean up the rear brakes. It looks like my E430 Sport already has 2 piston rear calipers. Not sure the rotor size until I remove them. The front brakes which I got from a member here have are 345mm. Going to repaint the front calipers and thought that I would paint the rear at the same time. But was not sure of my options yet.

Any time bro.,

while you have sport E430 your rear Rotor should be: 300mm, rear caliper has "1" piston, even with C32/C55,

"2" piston calipers comes only with (W211 E55K/W209 CLK55/R171 SLK55/W220 S55K & S600 & S65/R230 SL55 & SL600 & SL65) ,,

17" rims will clear the C32 brakes, 19" will clear any AMG calipers, that's a good choice..

It looks like the 2 piston set up to me. Thought that the 1 piston was only on the inside and had a different style of brake pad.

This is called "1" piston in each side, total "2" pistons, but with AMG "2" pistons each side, total will be "4" pistons,,
