e300td no start

I'm new to the benz world and this forum. any help will go a long way at this point. Im experiencing a no start situation. heres the symptoms. I was attempting to do the egr delete which has been done several times successfully by other members. went to radio shack got the parts and built the circuit (looks great). when testing for 12v power to the maf senor the check engine light came on (figured maf code). found power and was moving on to the next step. However i hit the brake and the car abruptly shut down and has not fired since. I imminently started trouble shooting the obvious things. right away i found two blown 10amps near the ECU. ran to advanced auto and installed with no change (also ive seen them mentioned on here... I have a friend with MB 38in plug and software. Last night a borrowed and found over 80 stored codes. took pictures of anything i felt was relevant and cleared ALL codes. disconnected the battery and hooked the + - together for exactly one beer. put all back together and preformed a re-scan. only two codes this time.

one was a BAS warning code and it said (if no customer complaint exists erase code)

2nd was a 3 part code

component Y66/1 (revering and parking solenoid) has a short or circuit or no connection

The selector lever is in a intermediate position

re-pete code 1

ive since replaced to brake light switch which should fix code one and eliminated the possibility of the problem. Im not trying to throw parts at this car (or any car for that matter)
looking for ideas.
I was told to check for trans fluid near the main harness and there was some present (but not sure if that would cause the problem?
the shifther linkage is non existent (ordering those tomorrow)
when removing the belly pan also found what looked to be coolant temp sensor and o-ring (had been there for awhile)
ive got decent automotive knowledge and a good understanding of cars...
IM STUMPED!
Thanks!

Car does not turn over. Fuel pump cycles. Relays click. Dash lights up. Glow plugs cycle. No turn over. I replaced brake light switch. (China brand) OE MB part went in today. No change. Also replaced the missing linkage with no change. Thanks.

I was getting a "BAS" warning before. I was told by several people to replace with OE brake light switch. i also replaced the shifter linkage bushings today. Based on my codes it sounds like the computer can't find the location of the shifter. Didn't think it was the problem. But needed to be done and ruled out any possibility. I didn't realize it was a mechanical pump. Thank you for the correction ( there was a slight humming noise coming from around the gas tank) I've tested the battery and it's fine. My brother has a w124 and I even swaped them to rule that out as well. Car stalled when I hit the brake and blew those 2 ten amps. That must be related?
Thanks again.

problem fixed. the overload circuit board that housed the two ten amp fuses was fried. $40 bucks from a local yard...
