hi I have a batterie issue with my 1999 e 320 4 matic . we tried to remove the alternator and we forgot to disconnect the batteries . we did a short to the chassis . we though probably we blow a fuse only now we put the alternator back all the lights are on ABS ETS etc the car run for couple minutes and a i just notice the car losing power until it stop .we jump start again and once we remome the cable it died again. what we did??? thanks

You did very bad thing----You didcheck all the fuses????but sounds like(my guess) your alternator and battery are shot. Plus possibly unknown damage to a bunch of control modules!!

Thanks plutonium.I just replace the battery and it runs fine for 30 min than I notice the puxeles on dash start to fade until it stop again I Gus just drain the Second battery I will check the alternator hope is just thath.I don't know what else could be I checked all fuses .are good. I don't under stain why the battery light is not on on the dash if is not charging anymore.

Plutoe, why would you guess that the Alternator AND Battery are shot. Both can be tested. No reason to suggest throwing expensive parts that may not be needed. It's possible the the internal voltage regulator in the alternator fried, or a fuse somewhere. There are so many fuses in these w210's. Under the seat, and under the hood.
