Rear Air Vent Repair W210
First of all this is my first repair thread ever, so if the images are too large or i did anything wrong feedback would be amazing.
3 of the 4 vertical fins on the air vent were disconnected from its manual adjuster. so i took it apart to fix it.
A-Vent removal
A1-Remove the cover under the vent by prying the top part.
A2- Pull outward (for the top clip)then upward to remove the bottom clip. ( i know its not called clip but i forgot the correct term ).
A3- There are 4 of these tabs in each corner, pry them slightly using a flathead .
A4- Push the vent from the back (there is nothing that could break by using a little force as you can see in the pics, but it should come off fairly easily.
B-Vent disassembly and repair
B1-There are 4 tabs (or 5 one of them appears to be broken) pry them with flathead while pulling both parts apart.
B2- The metal bar that's supposed to keep the fins connected isn't, so i tried to replace it.
replaced it, but one of the pins that connect the fin to the bar were broken (3 out of 4 moved together instead of the 4 fins)
B3- The Broken Fin is removed by applying force using the left thumb (upward or away) and right middle finger (downward ) and the right thumb and right index the fin is pulled
B4-Soldering iron with a small tip was used to make a small deep hole to put a a fabric pin in. Heating the pin would work just fine
B5- With pin inserted using pliers and a little force.
B6- Pin is Broken with wire cutter or grinded with a dremel
Both sides repaired
Re-installing is easy and no pics is needed. Front passenger vent coming soon
