Key fob extremely difficult to insert and remove from ignition.
I have a 2001 E320 that i recently purchased. When i insert the key fob into the ignition, i have to use quite a bit of force to get it in. Once it's in, the key is recognized and there is no issue with turning the key and starting the vehicle. When i go to remove the key, i have to really yank on it to get it out. I also have a valet key that I tried, and it has the same result. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

Sounds like someone forced the key while turning therefore you have something wrong with the ignition module!!----try putting the keys in another MB, remember you will not be able to turn the key however does the key smoothly fit and withdraw from the ignition module!!

Unfortunately I don't know any one that has another MB that I could try it out on. One theory I have is the mechanism that attaches to the gear selector, causing the ignition to stay locked. You think it's the Ignition module though? Is that a spendy fix? Is this something that I can continue to just deal with the annoyance for a while or does it need to be fixed sooner rather than later? Thanks

MB owners tend to be friendly---surely as you drive around(shopping malls) there has to be another MB or try the local strip clubs!!
I would say it's an annoyance---just be patient placing and removing the key!!
If it turns out to be the ignition module they ain't cheap because you can't use a used one---it has to be new and coded to your vin/key/ecu
