Mercedes E320 CDI
Limp mode . Need a solution

Hello everyone
I own a 2001 E320 CDI mercedes. It has been some months i have had this annoying problem.
One day the car started the morning at Limp mode and bounced every time i changed shifts. When i restarted it the problem disappeared. 2 days after this, the car was stuck in limp mode permanently and didn't change status after restart. I went to check it. The guy diagnosed it showing P2600 and P2602 codes. He checked the battery and it was good (6 years without changing it). Then he told me he needed to replace the transmission conductor plate. He changed it. The car worked fine for almost 3 months. Then the problem showed up again. Started to go limp mode in the mornings for 3-4 days until limp mode became permanent. I went to the same guy again. This time he changed the TCM module (EGS) with a new one. Worked fine for a week and went to limp mode again. Went back to this guy. He replaced the conductor plate again but the next morning it went to limp mode again.Checked the battery again and it seems to be good. Now he is telling me i need to replace the whole transmission to fix the problem. I told him that i want this problem fixed but if i change the transmission and the problem still exists then what??
Lost a lot of money from this fault and i am not sure if it is going to get fixed.
Need some help from anyone who knows something or had this kind of problems.
Thank you

Your car has built-in diagnostics for the engine and transmission. I suggest starting there to find out the real problem.

This transmission has a problem with wicking trans fluid back up into the TCU, transmission control unit, which is in the large black box on the passenger side in the engine compartment. This can cause electrical problems with the transmission like the limp mode being kicked in. I had about 4 ounces of trans fluid in my TCU box. You need to replace the coupling at the transmission to stop the wicking. It's fairly inexpensive to do. There are already a bunch of posts on this here and I have a bunch of youtube videos on it in my W210 playlist here:

Hope this helps. Look at the "Jeep Cherokee Transmission Leak" first, as this is the same transmission as the W210, the 722.6.

Mercedes E320 CDI
Hello again
my mechanic almost replaced everything in this car. dont know what to do anymore. He replaced the whole transmission twice but no results. then he decided to replace the car dynamo. Again no results. Then he opened all the electrical wirings and cleaned them (as he told me). Again no results. The car is again in limp mode with P2600 and P2602 codes.
I am getting tired

"I am getting tired."

I feel you pain. Here's some other info on P2602. I would crawl under there and make sure my mechanic replaced that two part plug where the wiring from the TCM inserts on the transmission. Then I would check the TCM box by opening it up and looking to see if it is wicking more r\\TM fluid.
