1999 E300 Turbo Diesel

Going to look at a Diamond in the rough 1999 E300 Turbo Diesel with 18k miles WHAT! yep and older couple original owners. I know as of right now SRS light stays on and the drivers seat does not go back 100% as per the owner. Asking price is 14k but blue book say $11500. any advice before purchasing im thinking I have to flush all fluids right away possible belts and tires if dry rotted car was garaged all its life. What else would I need to do after purchasing. Could this car be a possible money pit or a great buy!

Outside of the potential under body rust------the car is very easy to understand and maintain---however the car is way over priced!!

99 E300
Yes and no.... I recently bought my 99 E300 and paid a bit more than "going rate" for a one owner, low mileage, mint condition, CA car with no corrosion issues.

Sure, there's tons of these floating around for $5k, but many have lived in cold/ wet/ damp/ salt bath areas and we all know that these cars don't hold up very well in those environments.

Paying a few grand more for a car that will never have corrosion problems was MORE than worth it to me.

Add in low mileage (which does come with its downsides, admittedly) and if this car is really the garage queen that it sounds like it could be, I'd gladly pay $10k-$12k.

They are asking $14,000. You can get a CDI for that price.

Beware of garage queens! Inspect them thoroughly! Our Mercedes cars are designed to be driven. Especially diesels! I'd rather buy a well-maintained diesel with 175,000 miles on it than a Garage Queen that was driven only 100 miles a month all its life. All those internal parts & surfaces are best when continually lubricated by the oil & heat of a car that's operating at normal temperatures (and above). If the car sits in the garage all week and is only taken out once or twice on the weekend for short trips to church or temple and the grocery store afterwards, it's really not getting the optimum use or lublrication. Not to mention seals & hoses drying out. And yes, the price is too high, IMHO.
