I guess you are saying is that the motor you are looking at has been removed from the chassie and the chassie is not available for inspection---if that is correct---look at the lower block area on a machined surface above the pan!!

PS: Is the engine and transmission ECU with the engine---if so the VIN can be extracted, but that requires special software tools!!

Well, im maybe buying an e55. When i test drive it i fell it too slow. The guy tells me that the car havent been used for 8 months so i believe the engine have some little issues. The problem is that the guy is suspicious and i just want to check if it has a 430 block with all the amg things. (Maybe some day he got a blown engine). Im a bit picky and i just want to discard that option.

The VIN should be on the cars registration---if the driver says no comprende---walk away and get a cervasa!!

Then post the VIN and we can check what is under the hood!!

You have had one to many tacos---there is no engine VIN. There is an engine number and you get the engine number when you check the chassie(car) VIN!!

Last call------post the cars VIN if you want the engine serial number!!!

Plutoe is correct, there is NO Engine vin, i think you mean Engine # or ID..!,,

Lets leave hot dogs and tacos a side.

Im sorry if i didnt express myself well.

Yes, what i need is to know where the engine id or # is located in the block. I have the vehicles registration with the Vin and the engine # but i want to check it fisically in the car, because im affraid if this car has a 430 block. I just want to corroborate that.

if you know anyone with access to the Hollander Interchange Manual, that may
help identify the exact/approximate serial number locations on each vehicle.
this manual(s) is used by auto wrecking yards as they part out the car. it is
a great resource for folks wanting to identify which parts are used/shared by
different vehicles (thus the name "Interchange Manual").

possibly the insurance company may be able to help.

you can try this: https://mbworld.org/forums/vindecoder.php

or this: click

or this: click

i have a few books at work so I'll flip through them to see if it clarifies the
location of the stamping.
