*** BLUETOOTH FOR MY 1997 E420 ***
Hello Guys,
I have a 1997 E420 with the CD Changer option and MB cell phone. I would like to find out what is the least invasive way of getting the following to work:
1. Phone calls via Bluetooth that I can hear through the speakers and talk through the installed microphone. (I think it has one because of the MB cell phone)
2. Stream Internet radio through my cell via Bluetooth and hear through the speakers.
Notes:
1. I would like to keep the car as original as possible. I don't want to do anything major.
2. I would like to keep and still use the CD Changer
Thank you

What you want to do is not possible with the original equipment. Best bet is to install a new head unit with the features you want. Yes, I know it is not original, but is the only way.

I was hoping to somehow use the connection for the CD Changer and the Mic from the MB cell phone ):

I use this in my 98 e320. I use their bluetooth mic. Works well for me. http://www.gromaudio.com/store/usb_a...interface.html

Thank you. Do you happen to have an installation video?

Here is one that may give some insight as to how to go about installing the Grom Audio unit. The video does not show exactly where the unit was mounted, but there is plenty of room behind the head unit for mounting. Grom also has many video installs on their website for other cars, so you can get a feel of how to install. Remember, this unit replaces the external CD changer so it will no longer function. Small thing to give up for gained functionality.

I mounted the unit behind the stock stereo. I replaced the cigarette lighter with a Blue Sea Dual USB socket, then used a right angle connector to run the usb cable through the hole for the ash tray light (removed the white plastic cover.) This way I could hide the charging cable and keep the ash tray cover closed. The grom unit through bluetooth not only plays music, but all phone sound through the stock stereo. I use my 8" tablet with a proclip center dash mount for Navigation and music. Pro Clip makes a Benz specific mount that makes a clean install that puts the screen high. Originally I wanted to do a nav conversion but the screen is to low. I ran the bluetooth mic cable underneath the black dash bezel. (pulled the dash with the wire removal hooks....a good time to replace any dash lights if you need to.)
