HELP! CHANGING MILEAGE ON FACELIFT W210 INSTRUMENT CLUSTER
Hi, I am in the process of changing my instrument cluster due to bad pixels. I bought a used instrument cluster that work fine but it has the incorrect mileage on the speedometer. Is there anyway to change the mileage to the mileage on my vehicle on the previous instrument cluster? If so, please provide any wiring diagrams, instructions, videos, and more. Thank you all in advance for your support.

Even the dealer cannot do this. New clusters are only allowed 75 miles (I believe, it may be 50) to be coded to the mileage of the car. Once a cluster goes past this, it is locked (so any used cluster).
Specialed odometer shops know how to pull EPROMS and manually code things, so I would start there. I believe Palo Alto Speedometer still does this.

Hello everyone.
My question is.. (((( If I buy used cluster for my 1996 E320 (w210) would it be plug and play or must be reprogrammed?)))) I do not care about the millage I only care care about the clean and clear pixels ? so would it work or there are issues???
Your help will be appreciated.

if you take your cluster out, a new (used) one will have to be programmed anyway. contact VDO and they will rebuild and reset your cluster for around $400.00

Just curious, if the replacement of the entire gauge cluster is due to bad pixels, has anyone tried the eBay repair instead? $129.
I recently did this type of eBay repair of my Suburban and it all went perfect. They replaced all the stepper motors, light bulbs and repaired the PRNDL display. It's a little different for the pixels of a Mercedes and I'd like to give it a try... looking for someone that has done this to their Mercedes with some feedback on how it all went.
