Rear or secondary catalytic converter on 2002 E320

I am sorry for my ignorance in this matter. I've searched this forum and there are many discussions on catalytic converters, mentioning rear, secondary cat converters. Where are the rear cat converters located on a E320 sedan? The two under the passenger seat of my car make rattling noise while driving and when knocking on them with a rubber hammer. It appeared that these converters were welded in at 53K miles by the previous owner. The car now has only <66K miles. Are these called REAR or SECONDARY converters? Many said Magnaflow part #53005 or Eastern Catalytic part #70317 should work. I would appreciate your comments and suggestions very much.

That sounds like you are describing the secondary cats. The primary cats are located just a few inches off off the exhaust manifolds close to the engine and angled up towards the sky.
