MB W210 E 280 1996 Won´t start *solved*
Hi!
I have some trouble with my E280, it wont start.
I have changed the ignition-lock, evertything inkluding the steering wheel lock.
Nothing happens when i turn the key, it behaves like the immo would be broken.
One mistake that was made was trying to change the immobilizer.
The new igniton-lock i bought had the immo and key included, i never had the intention to swap the immo at all but my friend who is very kind to help me swaped them to use the new key, obvious it did not work as the immo is made for that specific car, so we changed the immo back and now it wont start.
The immo seams to work, no green and red light flashing, unless i take away the key, then it flashes and stops as i put the key back.
Before the change of the immo it worked. I wonder if the ECU is locked or something, anyone knows?
I wonder if its worth to buy a Mercedes Carsoft 7.4 OBD or similar and if its enough to clear error codes to get it to star... Well.. any suggestions?
Thanks in advance.

Actually no.
After some research i found out that it doesn't matter, and it should not matter, as long as you put the right immo back and use the right key (and the red and green light not flashes )
I was on my way to tow the car to a shop and get some help to read out eventually error-codes. Then it hit me that i might try to start it while towing it. Well, take a guess, it started...
But as soon as i turned it off and tired with the key nothing.. That proves the immo is ok and there have to be something else wrong.
Started to troubleshoot the starter and measure the cables but still nothing, at last my friend (the helpful one who swapped the immo) took a look at the plug to the ignition-lock and there it was.... so stupid simple ..
A pin on the plug had slipped out of its position and had no connection to the ignition-lock.
Once again, as so many many times before its a simpler fault then one can suspect.....
Thank you for your reply and..
Case closed.
