changed ignition assembly now engine cranks but won't start?
Okay so my wife took my 1997 e320 to good year for a equipment safety inspection. The mechanic drove into the garage shut off the car and then when trying to start it back up the key wouldn't turn. So I had the car towed to stealership to have a new key ordered. No dice, wasted $280. Next I realized it was the tumbler but couldn't change it since key won't turn to position 1. So I bought the entire ignition steering lock assembly and installed it (thanks to the help of this forum). Now the car endlessly cranks but won't start for nothing! Brand new battery and key. What is it that I'm dealing with guys? please help! All suggestions are definitely needed.

Out Of Control!!
Well what your very learned forum members for got to tell you is that you car has a drive authorization system(theft relevant) that prevents car thief's from doing just what your buddies suggested---the car won't and will not start until the used ignition assy is recognized and if I am correct that ain't going to happen with a used part---back to the stealer or donate the car!!
