DAS Xentry big issue

I didn't read the buying instructions more than 15 times (probably should have been 25 times) on the Chinese ad on DLGate.com so my DAS came in without any instructions as well as no CD since they still call a CD an HDD instead. Since I already have a hard disk drive I ordered it without the HDD.
Is there a tutorial anywhere or a DAS forum that I can go to in order to learn this device?

You just have to get off your duff and search the web as there are thousands of articles and you tube vids.

If you don't know the components of the system HTF do you know what you purchased will work---please enlighten us as to what did you purchase??

Hope is not a plan but(!) hopefully, your desktop will show DAS and DASSim. Fire up DASSim. It will walk you through all diagnostic trouble codes or individual trouble codes or programming of modules. Start with the sim (if your version has it). If not, listen to Plutoe and read, read, read.

Heck, the program will literally walk you through a procedure. You just have to follow the instructions and, when in doubt, stop and think. (As I should have done earlier tonight when adapting a replacement crank position sensor. I'll finish tomorrow morning.)

Practice on the sim, then use the real thing.

Post number 3 will not help but add much more confusion to your quest. Firstly, for our W210's DAS or DAS Xentry is not used to diagnose the cars. The HHT built into DAS does all that work and there is no HHT simulation.

Secondly there is no adaption of a crank positions sensor on a W210, therefore I have no idea what the gent is trying to accomplish or convey!!

Thirdly, Although you can install DAS or DAS Xentry on a desktop, you can't diagnose the car because the desktop does not have a serial port. Plus can you imagine dragging a desk top around a shop, therefore I hope that comment was just a typo.

Actually, I connect Xentry up to my W210 when needed (At least, when the computer boots a great big "Xentry Diagnostic Assistance System" displays on the screen.) And it has DAS Sim on the Windows XP desktop (software, not hardware!). My Dell laptop has an RS232 port. And my W211 uses Xentry to perform crank position sensor adaptation because I was using it last night. The intent of the comment is, "Use the simulation mode before playing with your car". It reduces frustration for all concerned and reduces the number of questions one needs to ask on the forum.

Now I wholeheartedly concur on the wisdom of not dragging a desktop computer (hardware, not software) around the shop (with or without an RS232). Dragging the extension cord on test drives would be a pain!
