Front spring and shock absorber

Hi guys. I am working for few days with Rt broken spring in MB E-430 4-Matic 2001. I was able to remove the shock absorber and spring with Mercedes spring compressor. Now I need to install the new spring on shock absorber. The problem is that the inner diameter of new spring is about 3mm less than diameter of shock absorber. This is original brand new Mercedes spring. The shape and size are exactly the

same as of old spring. Is there any trick to push it in? How much force should I apply to do it safely? Please see attached pictures. Thank you for any advices.

front spring for MB E 430 4 -matic 2001

This is self-reply on my thread posted yesterday . I try to install the same spring from the bottom end. Unfortunately the same problem again: the widest inner diameter of the bottom part of spring is 4 mm less than the most narrow width of the fork. I afraid to brake the spring if I try to use a hammer oblong crowbar to rotate the fork. Pictures attached. Still waiting for somebody's advice who was successful with this repair. Thank you again.

Are you sure that is the right spring. I did mine a few years ago and it fit over the shock with no issues. Also I dont remember mine tappering at the bottom like the ones in your pictures.
