Advice on selling E430 in fair to good condition
I have just recently decided to sell my 2001 E430 4matic with around 116,000 miles on it. The car needs some work both inside and out and was trying to figure out what route is my best option to get rid of the car. The car runs and drives fine but needs the following work:
Exterior:
Interior:
I have always done regular maintenance on the car myself but all of the big trips we have taken through some of the worst elements have taken a toll on the car. Also the trans was rebuilt at 100k as i crapped out on me.
Can I get anyone to buy this car as-is? I am not going to bs anyone and tell them straight up what i think needs to be done. KBB lists it at $4200 in fair condition. $2500 to 3000 for quick sale? Craigslist or auotrader listing?
Exterior:
- Needs paint work
- Needs tires
- Rims need to be painted as peeling
- Front end work such as tie-rods, ball joints, bushings and motor mounts
Interior:
- New floormats
- Small tear in passenger side seat
- Just general wear of armrest on drivers side and steering wheel
- Headliner starting to sag in the rear
- New drivers side seat switch

KBB is an unrealistic website, try more on edmunds or even what people are selling them for on autotrader or cars.com i bought my 2001 for 2000 and it needed its gauge cluster rebuilt (250). but maybe i just got a good deal?

I would recommend checking craigslist, to see what they go for in your area.
I had 2 2001 E320s, in good condition with about 110,000 on each. I just sold one (by listing it on Craigslist) for $7800; my listing price. KBB is way off I think. I sold mine kinda cheap, a lot of similar ones in worse condition were listed at 6500-6000.
