99 e320 4matic wagon self leveling problem

I just bought a 99 e320 4matic wagon with 215k everything was fine till yesterday. My wife went over railroad tracks and now the rear of the wagon sits a good 3-4" higher then b4 and it ride's like a lumber wagon. Were do I begin trouble shooting? I like this car and want to repair it right.... But don't like it enough to pay dealership repair costs

I know you got a real big deal and you hada drive and MB---well if the issue is with the airmatic suspension and you don't have the diagnostic equipment--there are three options--A-- sell the wife to help pay for the expenses, B--find someone who knows the MB suspension system and has the diagnostics and\or C--go in the lumber business!!

PS: There is a D--tow the car back to the seller and get your money back, because you ain't seen nothing yet!!

Your car doesn't have airmatic as mentioned above.

I suspect the sensor which determines ride height attached to the rear axle had been knocked. Crawl under the car and see if anything is amiss.

Hello fellow w210 owners I'm American living in England for past 24 1/2 years love my old Merc Diesel Estate that's station wagon to all my fellow country former country men. It sounds like w210 knows these models enjoy your interest in Mercedes and will post any problems I have incurred. I had to replace my oil cooler pipes rotted away and when I tried to remove pipes from cooler the flared connection snapped off!
Absolute nightmare Mercedes wanted 500£ n.f.w.got 2 from scrap yard in poor condition but the got me road worthy but they never stopped leeking! It took me 2 years to sort out by trial and error. Managed to have one rebuilt horrible job that I did 1/2 dozen times. Enjoy checking out your problems maybe I can help.
All the best Bob Saulino
