Trunk lock issue (PSE checks out ok)
My trunk lock I my E430 won't turn with the mechanical key.
Opens with the fob and the trunk release, but I can't turn the key to lock the trunk independently. Do the lock cylinders on these cars have tendacy to jam up? What am I looking at for cost (roughly) to repair/replace? Trunk is currently in its unlocked position.

2016-2002=14 years of tumbler that was never exercised?
Get a can of WD40 with straw on it, spray it inside the hole, insert key, play with it a bit, pull out, wipe off if dirt shows and keep on repeating.
When you make it working, wipe off WD40 pretty well and treat it with graphite spray.

Right. So I got the cylinder to turn. I can now lock the trunk separately. Some jigg-aloo, key blade in some vice grip pliers and back and forth till it freed up. Took 45 seconds. Now, when it did free up it was a very violent and 9/10ths broken type thing, but that's what it takes.
I know I have two issues with access to the central locking system, that is, the lock button on my keyfob is not working, and the switch on the dash is not working (unlocks but not lock) it needs the be cleaned, the fob replaced. The automatic central locking system, that locks the doors when in motion, works well so I know I can rule out PSE malfunction (I think).
Aside from those two access problems, someone let me know if this range of function is normal for the trunk release button.
Position 1 (off to the left) turn, push and trunk opens.
Position 0 (neutral vertical) the key can be removed, push and open trunk.
Position 2 (90* to the right) the trunk is locked. Remove key IN this position, no opening regardless of anything (keep in mind my button issues)
If I had fully functioning fob and dash switch, would turning the cylinder to the unlocked (1) position allow me to lock the trunk centrally? Or from position (2) to neutral(0)?
I've read and read the manual and it is relatively vague about the relation to key position and central locking function.

Position 1 and 2 sounds right, but position 0 should not open the trunk with tumbler.
I think facelift trunk locks don't have central locking switch, but that is side note.
Your trouble with central locking and remote operation could be bad door switch.
