Benz flooded wont start?
First it is a 2001 e320. Ran fine then last night it flooded. It got water about 3/4 of the way up tires, about 3-4 inches inside of car. The key wont turn in the ignition? What the hell? Any clues?

possible that the water has pooled under the rear seat, right/pax side where
it is target rich with fuses, relays, PSE pump, battery, etc. pull the rear seat
and have a look. if indeed water or moisture, it will take a great deal of effort
to dry everything out.

Hey Mike, it may be your shifter also. When you turn on the ignition keep the ignition turned on like a honda for a few seconds and see if it starts. If that happens your shifter might have gone into limp mode. Let us know how that goes.

The PSE/alarm module under the seat is lower than gear shifter, so I ditto raymond's first conclusion.
Not to mention that water is a conductor and will discharge battery as well.
Hopefully OP will come back to report. Flooded cars are not fun.
My son is thinking about moving to Texas and I am offering him my SeaDoo.
SeaDoo can take water just fine. I don't even remember how many times I had to flip it over and with plugs removed, turn the engine to blow water from the cylinders.

I wonder if you need special note on car insurance for flooding?
When I had near by creek flooding lower floor in my house, the insurance declined payment becouse I had no flood coverage.
They did pay few years later when sewer backed up.
