Spark Plug Replacemment
Hi guys,
Just bought a 99 e320 and started tinkering with it for the first time. The previous owners took it to a dealer and had the valve covers changed, transmission flushed and a couple of other minor things too. I am discovering that the dealer did a horrible job with the maintinence they performed and stripped out all of the bolts they tried to get access to. I also believe they may have overfilled the tranny and that is why I am experiencing shifting problems.. I bought the aftermarket dipstick to confirm this.
Anyway, I'm removing my valve covers(as their both leaking oil) and decided to change out my spark plugs as they have never been changed with 90k miles on the vehicle. I cannot seem to find what size socket to use anywhere online... Can anyone point me in the right direction? I tried a 5/8in and it would not fit within the plug holes. Again, any help greatly appreciated.

Well... for your "tinkering" -
1) There are too many "wrong spark plugs" suggested for W210 - the correct OE spark plug is Bosch 7422 - again Bosch 7422 - like this 12 pcs set from Aamazon:
2) You need a thin wall 16mm- 5/8ths socket, swivel type preferred + "boot removal" wrench to "pop" off the "boots" - this set is sold by a forum contributor:
http://www.ebay.com/itm/Mercedes-Spa...-/371278419663
3) some dielectric grease - you add a touch to the top of the new spark plug before popping the boot back on:
Tranny.... now this gets fun ... "most" dealers will have used correct fluid... "some" dealers do not use correct fluid... but let's focus elsewhere for the moment..
4) Check the service invoice, dealer tranny service protocol does not call for replacement of the ?transmission adapter plug"... so best thinking replace that lower tranny plug on your own... genuine MB/MOPAR plug only ... such as this $10 Amazon MOPAR (MB) plug:
5) Do a ECU/tranny reset... easy 2 minute job:
