Broken Strut Tower On My E320
Hello all,
I own a 2000 Mercedes E320 and it's a wonderful running car, however, I've run into some problems. As you all know, the w210 is known for rusting out and this car is no exception. There is visible rust all around the car. Though, that isn't my exact reason for writing this thread.
A few months ago, the strut tower (where the spring sits on the front right side), went over a bump and straight up broke. The spring broke and the tower was essentially gone.
I knew a body man, so I went and had him weld another tower and put a brand new spring on it. Though eventually, I went over another bump a few months later and this tower broke again; this time pushing the car to the edge of the road at 45 mph.
Now the car is sitting in my driveway, with a great engine and transmission. However, it's in a not drive able condition. The body man told me that the tower has to withstand about 2500 Ibs of pressure so any weld won't be able to keep it on.
So my question to you all is, do you know of any way this can be fixed? Should I just take my losses and call it a day?
All answers are appreciated. Thank you!

The spring perch repair failed because it was done badly. Get a new perch and have someone install it correctly. In my area we have a body shop that does many of them. Your area might be the same.

Pictures would be very helpfull, but I agree with nelbur that properly done repair should not give up that easy.
Even if the subframe was corroded, the repair should include reinforcement.
Replacement perches are design for rivets not weld, while in some countries you could buy factory perch reinforcing brackets.
