The use of regular fuel

How critical is the adherence to this requirement?
I had to fill up with regular (82) because my shell station hasn't received a shipment for a week now and won't until after they get their tank fixed.
And I don't really have a choice where I am for premium.

I know not to load the engine at high RPM, most of my driving is low speed. What other symptoms could I encounter using exclusively regular fuel for a short period?

What % do you estimate you have?
Those engines have ping sensors so they can take lower octanes for some time.
Just easy on gas pedal and top off wit premium at first occasion.

I'll be gentle (aren't I always?) tank is full of 82. Octane booster? Just for the interim?

Don't bother. The engine will survive on regular.

Yeah I'll get 91 when I can. It is only a 10:1 engine, could never figure out why it required 91. Yes, you get better efficiency, another idle, but I think it's mainly for keeping the emissions warranty intact. E55, however at 11:1 NEEDS 91.

I don't know why you're thinking that it's "only a 10:1 engine" as if this was an
indication that it is low/moderate compression. That is towards the higher end
and higher octane is appropriate.

A gaggle of MB's
No major problems/issue - lower fuel economy, more "junk" in the fuel.

If you want to do a additive for clean up - forget "octane booster" - use 1/2 $9 bottle Stabil Marine (blue bottle) to start fuel system cleanup plus keeps fuel tank sensor in top shape - follow with the 2nd 1/2 about 2000 miles..

Keep the beat !

My car sounds like crap on regular. It pings terribly and I don't recommend it. Adding even 5 gallons of premium to a tank of regular clears it right up. I'd say at least midgrade (89) or blend it up to 90 or 91. Don't use 87 for very long
