Ignition key not turning to start car
Hello guys, my name is Stewart Musiwa, from Norton, Harare, Zimbabwe. I was born on 20 June 1968. I bought my E320 1996 model 3 years ago with 80 000 km and I added another 70 000 km to it over the years. I haven't had any problems with it sine then, but last week it refused to turn ignition key after someone tried to jump start my flat battery and even with new battery fitted the steering wheel remains locked and key cant turn to start engine. what culd be the problem i really stuck please help.

You have switch blade key and no key recognition?
Turning the key has nothing to do with electric power.
Sounds like you are due for new tumbler.
Use a vibrator in the mean time.

I don't know know whether key recognition applies to this model which is earlier than yours. I'm also not sure whether in part of the world I can get it that easily since spare parts are imported and very expensive. I don't even know what a tumbler is can someone please send a picture i'm not mechanically minded. Thank you so much kajtek1.

Those things are easy to replace for person who knows what he is doing, but can turn into nightmare when DIY will kick the wheel blockade into permanent lock.
Consider taking it to a dealer.
