Headlight not working

my driver side headlight socket melted, so I ordered a new one from autohausaz. I got my new part cut off the old one, then twisted the new part wires to the wires from the headlight but it still isn't working. Could really use someone's help tired of driving with one headlight.

if it melted, it overheated, right? the headlight could have been damaged and/or
the fuse may have blown. 1) check for voltage to the bulb socket when the
headlight switch is turned on. 2) check fuse condition and verify that it is intact

Thanks man the fuse was blown, I didn't know there was a seperate fuse for each light(the fuse box when you open driver door).

Yea man love the car, bought it from my grandfather a few years back(he got it in 2003). Hasn't given me many problems other than this, the rear window regulators and it's time to change motor mounts.
