Need to replace shifter circuits e320
So my wife's E320 stopped shifting, and went into limp mode. After trying every other solution, I pulled the shifter, and replaced it with the one from my ML55AMG. The one from the AMG does not fit very well, but I was able to discover that my problem is in the gear sensor in the shifter itself. I had already sprayed electronic parts cleaner on the board, although I do not know of any spills. I am wondering if it is possible to just replace the electronic bits without having to pay hundreds for a new shifter. Anyone got Ideas?

If you mean the shifter has stopped shifting - search forum on proper diagnosis that it is the shifter position switch (often called in error neutral safety switch)
Depends on the year... pre-facelift is replaceable - with VIN# - reconfirm part# with dealer parts dept:

Replacing the switch with shifter is out is relatively easy - BEST with battery discconnect (key out of ignition both on disconnect and reconnect) - switch needs to go back in the shifter the way it comes out - and the shifter needs to go back in the way it comes out.
Have radio code and accessory system reset instructions at hand on battery reconnect.
Post-face lift - I don't "think: replaceable.
Verify diagnosis 1st - hate to do a bunch of work on the wrong source-issue.

I noticed that I had not put the year in my post. It is a 2001. I think the part you linked is for a newer model. I updated with a newer and more thorough post. Thanks for your help and time.
