About to buy a 2000 E430 800$
I found a car to add to the list.. I think it may work out alright to do a quick flip on, I wanted to see what you guys think.
I may be crazy to pick up another project as I currently have the tranny out of the cl55 waiting on the stall converter to get here monday (among other parts).
But you know how that goes..
V8 rwd
Anyway this car is pretty nice, besides the obvious damage to the front fender and driver door.
Ive got a friend that hat has done body work for a long time so labor won't be crazy expensive, but I do think I will be looking for a straight door and fender . Maybe kind of pricey..
It also needs a control arm in the front where it was hit. I found that for 75$
Car needs a battery, we tried jumping with my truck to no avail. I will go back in the morning with a battery and see if it runs as well as he says.
The guy says that the engine is new-refurbished I suppose.
The engine compartment is very clean.
Overall the car looks pretty clean inside, I would say 8/10.
200k on the odometer.
A/C and heat work.
So my question is, if tomorrow I put a battery in it and it starts right up, assuming there are no other major problems discovered along the way, would 800$ be a manageable price to pay if I do all repair work myself and get a decent deal on body work?
I don't plan on keeping the car i just plan on fixing and posting it on Craigslist.
How much could i expect to get out of a nice looking, good running, cold blowing 2000 e430?
Let me know what you guys think
The help is much appreciated!
Kenny

1922 Ford Model T / no OBD
This looks like Sport model where the parts are harder to find.
I think $3000 for car with 200k and accident report is very wishful estimate.
Even when fixed perfect.

Thank you guys for the response!
When he calls me this morning I will tell him I have done some research and at 800$ it is not cost effective for me to buy.
I will offer him 500$
and tell him the offer stands if he wants to see what other offers he receives and possibly get back to me.
I have a feeling it won't be long and he will be getting with me; If not, not sweat off my brow.. ive already got plenty of cars to work on. Lol
I found an ad on elpaso craigslist for a warehouse of mercedes and mercedes parts out of Kentucky, I am waiting on a response for a price for a door with glass and fender.
Mercedes builds cars in KY correct?
Anyway, time to go work on the 55
Thanks for all the answers!
