AC Compressor Replacement - List of Parts Needed (check my list please)
I am preparing to replace the AC Compressor in my 2000 E55 and I’d like to list out all the parts that will be needed for the job in hopes of getting advice if any parts are incorrect or if they should be substituted for another brand. I am also hoping this list will serve as a guide for anyone preparing to do this in the future.
Credit goes to various posts I read, but primarily to jarno’s excellent DIY at http://www.benzworld.org/forums/w210...ac-system.html
I am assuming that the E55’s AC compressor and related parts are the same as other W210 models (someone please correct me if I’m wrong).
Here’s the list:
1. A/C Compressor and Clutch DENSO 471-1293 http://bit.do/cgB3n
2. AC Receiver Drier + Hose BEHR HELLA http://bit.do/cgB8e
3. URO Parts 202 830 0184 Expansion Valve http://bit.do/cgB34
4. Freon Pressure Switch Mercedes A C High Pressure Switch Receiver Dryer 140 830 00 72 1408300072 OE OEM | eBay
5. FJC 2484 PAG Oil - 8 fl. Oz. http://bit.do/cgB4i
6. FJC 2710 A/C System Flush Kit http://bit.do/cgB4n
7. Rapid Seal AC Service Kit MT2630 Santech Rapid Seal AC Service Kit MT2630 | eBay
8. 3 Cans R-134a DuPont Suva A/C Automotive Refrigerant/Freon R134a (12oz Cans) http://bit.do/cgB6S
This list may seem a bit overkill, but I am planning on keeping the car for some time and I’d like to do this right. Also, this is the same list of parts jarno reference in his DIY that is linked above.
Any thoughts and/or suggestions will be appreciated.
Alex

MBWorld Fanatic!
1. A/C Compressor - correct rerference under another part# generally - new/genuine Denso can be found under $300 - Sanden (solid clone Denso) is about $200
2. AC Receiver Drier + Hose - correct reference quasi-brand OK
3. Expansion Valve - that part is kondof a bear to replace do to how it is fitted - not necessarily recommended
4. Freon Pressure Switch - not needed unless a specific fault
5. PAG oil - yes, but often overdone
6. System Flush Kit - in general maybe not necessary
7. Seal set - cheap, might come in handy
8. R134 - MUCH/MUCH better if shop evac/fill - any competant
Recommended - check belt tensioner - if "old" style can be a leading cause of compressor premature failure. "Conti kit" fresh Litens tensioner, INA idler pulley, Conti belt about $140.
Recommended - check water pump bottom for signs of weeping - premature water pump failure also can be caused by old/failing belt tensioner. If you plan replacement - NO on cheap China part
Keep the beat !
