Multicountour Seat Swap, Need a STAR SDS Multiplexor

Hello again everyone. After fixing a few minor things on my new to me e 320 last weekend I started to think about tackling some bigger projects I had in mind, mainly the retrofit of the rear sunshade and ventilated multicontour seats from my wrecked e430. I realize many would say it would be much more trouble than its worth, but this car is a sort of hobby of mine now and I don't mind putting the time and effort in. Anyway, I called up the dealer and asked them a few questions after looking around the various Benz forums. From what I can gather, I'll need access to a Star SDS multiplexor to make the system in my e320 aware that I have the multicontour seats installed. I assume the same would be true for the rear sunshade. I also asked about the tele aide communication malfunction. They told me they could fix the malfunction for $140 but would be unwilling to help me with any of my retrofitting work.

Am I up the creek without a paddle? Should I start calling all the Mercedes dealers in my state in hopes that one of them may be able to help me? Does anyone know if there is another way I could gain access to a star system to make this retrofit work? Thanks in advance, and thanks for all the helpful info I've gotten so far with regards to the head unit and headlights.

By the way I'm mainly looking at this thread for the seats: http://www.benzworld.org/forums/w210...seat-swap.html and http://asavage.dyndns.org/MB/W210/Su...e_Sunshade.pdf this for the rear sunshade. If anyone has additional information I could use I'd greatly appreciate it.

No it sucks - usually forum posters offer at least 10% discount to members.

some folks feel that by posting their location it is sharing too much. but with
car troubleshooting, knowing this info helps provide context and ability to offer
assistance, knowledge of folks with SDS (non dealer) etc. something to consider

Our wagon does have multi-contour, dynamic seats with massage, heat, vent, bells and whistles, but it would take Plutoe's wisdom with his DAS to program sausage in it.

So an update of sorts. Some family from out of town ended up coming over so I believe I will end up putting the seat swap off for another week. Hoping I'll have time to tackle putting a new radio in this weekend instead.

The lovely gentlemen jonwhite99 over on the Benzworld forums informed me that if I bring over the PSE from my other w210 that I am sourcing the multicontour seats from, the coding for the multicontour function will come with it. So right now the plan is to swap over the seats, PSE, and rear sunshade next weekend. Once I have everything over I believe that the air bladders and heat should be working in the seats. I can always wait to find a place with SDS for the rear sun shade and ventilation function at another time.

I'll definitely post here again once I have everything swapped. If anyone knows of a place that might be willing to help me out with the computer stuff for a decent price I'd be more than happy to take a day trip from Maryland to come find you. Thanks again for all the help!
