Parking Brake Assembly Removal

Hello All,
Trying to take my parking brake assembly out of the car to replace it. Anybody know of a special tool to get the parking brake cable off? Is there a better tool than trying to use a straight blade screwdriver to do this? Also the ball at the end of the cable is really tough to get out too, any recommendations on this one? Thanks.
