Emergency electric running mode
My 2002 e320 went into limp home mode. Smog shop pulled infamous PO715. I went out on a limb after reading up and changed the conductor plate, replaced 13 pin connector and flushed very black atf. I bought an icarsoft mb11 which would be needed to reset transmission codes. After 2 hours it was time to hook up my handheld and read codes and lo and behold I can no longer read any codes from the transmission at all. The handheld is letting me get stored codes p2066-004 ,016, 064 which lead back to P0715 but once I try to get to the transmission part it tells me there is no connection. The new conductor plate was a Mercedes brand and had the newest version part number that when I looked it up was interchangeable with the old one that came out. What did I do wrong? Im a DIY guy on a budget and im down $320 so far. Frustrated.

Hello, I think 2002 is the change year from the 38 pin diagnostic connector to 16 pin OBD2 connector for component diagnostics. So I am not sure if your car still has a 38 pin connector to access the transmission and other modules, like the ABS, SRS, Body controls , A/C diagnostics etc. Check for a 38 pin round connector at the drivers side fuse panel module area which has a round cover. If it has it, then you need Carsoft 7.4 / V12, or MB SDS, or some other service equipment that has a 38 pin adapter to access the appropriate pins. A workshop with a Snap-On with the right socket adapter, and the personality key will be able to reset the transmission codes.
What you are reading are the codes stored in the ECU, not in EGS (Transmission), and you need to access the EGS to read and reset the codes.
