e320 dif oil change
my car was slipping and shifting hard into 2nd gear . i did trans fiilter and fluid change no effect . i just changed differntial oil ,about a qt came out ,not real dirty no noticable metalics .now ive noticed a smoothness in shifting ,not complete but improved . just wondering is that common ,i didnt think the rear end had much to do with shifting .ive ordered a plug and valve plate kit for the trans.am i on the rt track.

"Hard shift" can be mechanical - and it is more common for it to be "communication".
If you have ordered genuine MB/MOPAR tranny adapter plug and conductor plate - you are on a good track.
That said - you will want to pull Tranny Control Module in the engine compartment for fluid contamination - and flood clean both sides of that board - and spray both sides of the connector up there. Overall about 1/2 can of $9 MAF cleaner will get that job done - air dry only - no heat-guns/hair-dryers.
And - you can check forum for the ECU/tranny soft reset procedure - so you can reset tranny to original factory defaults - takes 3 minutes and no stress.

ok update had the conductor plate and plug changed ,ther is still a slip feel going into 2nd or 3rd .mech said drive it till it stops to much to rebuild . it might last a long time. find a good used one when i need it. as i said the car rides real good but it dose have that slip.ill try your sugestion cleaning the trans control mode thanks.
